چکیده

High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell constant current ageing tests highlighted that the characterizations used to monitor state of health single cells could be potentially degrading. An experimental campaign analyze potential degradation due polarization curves was carried out. More exactly, four methodologies generate a curve including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopies (EIS) were cycled 30 times. The tested based on commercial PBI Electrodes Assembly (MEA) with an active surface 45 cm 2 (BASF Celtec®-P 1100 type). Before first cycling test and after last one, complete characterizations, composed by voltammetry EIS, performed. results show one MEA has voltage which increased for methods obtain curve. This growth is linked decrease ohmic losses: in unexpected way, it considered as way improve break-in period. Similarly, monitoring CO emission (as corrosion been suspected involved at high voltage, i.e. low density) confirms electrodes during measurement

Three-Dimensional Modeling and Experimental Study of a High Temperature PBI-Based PEM Fuel Cell

This paper investigates the performance of a high temperature proton exchange membrane PEM fuel cell. Both experimental work and numerical simulation are conducted. The high temperature proton exchange membrane is based on polybenzimidazole PBI doped with phosphoric acid. A single cell with triple serpentine flow channels was operated at steady state at various levels of temperature, pressure, ...

Experimental Study of Oxidant Effect on Lifetime of PEM Fuel Cell

In recent decades, fuel cells have been widely used in energy generation. In a PEMFC, considering the specific application, two types of oxidants are used. Durability tests, which are highly costly products,  are of crucial importance in evaluating the lifetime of fuel cells. The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the performance of a fuel cell by changing the type of oxidant from a...

Dynamic modeling and experimental investigation of a high temperature PEM fuel cell stack

High temperature polymer fuel cells operating at 100 to 200C require simple fuel processing and produce high quality heat that can integrate well with domestic heating systems. Because the transportation of hydrogen is challenging, an alternative option is to reform natural gas on site. This article presents the development of a dynamic model and the comparison with experimental data from a hig...

Experimental Study on a 1000W Dead-End H2/O2 PEM Fuel Cell Stack with Cascade Type for Improving Fuel Utilization

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) with a dead-ended anode and cathode can obtain high hydrogen and oxygen utilization by a comparatively simple system. Nevertheless, the accumulation of the water in the anode and cathode channels might cause a local fuel starvation degrading the performance and durability of PEMFCs. In this study, a brand new design for a polymer electrolyte membrane...

An ultrathin self-humidifying membrane for PEM fuel cell application: fabrication, characterization, and experimental analysis.

An ultrathin poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE)-reinforced multilayer self-humidifying composite membrane (20 microm, thick) is developed. The membrane is composed of Nafion-impregnated porous PTFE composite as the central layer, and SiO2 supported nanosized Pt particles (Pt-SiO2) imbedded into the Nafion as the two side layers. The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell employing the self-humi...
